Context and history
Freud explains the bond with the leader as an identification that replaces the ego ideal. Written twelve years before Hitler, it was later read as an anticipation, and it is still returned to whenever a mass movement needs explaining. Text in GERMAN: the original, and the only version in the catalogue. The English translations by Strachey and Riviere **are not in the public domain** and are therefore absent.
